A trained technician could eventually work at Scanlon Lexus right here in Fort Myers. “If someone is thinking of this career path, they should know that the pay is great and that there will always be a high demand for quality technicians,” says Bob Kimlinger – a Master Lexus Certified Diagnostic Specialist at Scanlon Lexus.

Kimlinger has worked for Lexus for 30 years with 24 of those years have been at Scanlon Lexus of Fort Myers. As a Master Lexus Certified Diagnostic Specialist who knows a thing or two about automotive careers and even more about Lexus vehicles, Bob says “not only is working for one of the best, if not the best manufacturer in the world rewarding, the Toyota company stands behind you and has many processes in place to help you along with your career, including the Certified program. At participating dealers, in the Certified program, when you reach Senior or Master status there is a joint contribution between the dealer and manufacturer to supplement monies to the employee for the lease of a new vehicle at a very low cost.”

A top Lexus technician can earn an exceptional living and demand for such technicians is off the charts! Automotive technicians for today’s advanced Lexus vehicles need to have higher electrical skills and diagnostic abilities, and that is what they teach in the T-TEN program.

The typical T-TEN technician training program length is two years. Once participants complete the program, they can apply for open service technician positions at Lexus of Toyota dealerships, or any automotive service operation, including independent service and repair shops anywhere in Southwest Florida.

T-TEN schools in Florida include Atlantic Technical College, Miami Lakes Educational Center and Technical College, and Orange Technical College. You can enroll here. There are financial aid options available.

For Bob, seeing a customer’s appreciation first-hand is an awesome feeling. “It gives you a sense of satisfaction that you have done your job and have done it well.”
